DUTIES: *This immediate temporary need is anticipated until August 2008.*

The Medical Assistant is a customer and patient service oriented team player who is responsible for supporting the clinics by providing a variety of services for preparing and maintaining patient records, preparing patients for physician, other provider or nurse, interacting maintaining optimal patient flow and assists with patient care as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Also must meet one of the following requirements: Medical Assistant program graduation, or certified as a Medical Assistant, or 2 years of experience performing the above duties, in a doctor’s office. Two years previous experience, performing the above duties in a physician’s office. NOTE: Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or being certified as a Medical Assistant may be accepted in place of the experience requirements. CPR Certification Good communication and organizational abilities, understanding of appointment schedule/patient flow.Knowledge of effective chart documentation, taking and recording vital signs, phlebotomy, understanding of basic medical terminology

DUTIES: The Resident Assistant is responsible for assisting the elderly with their daily living routines. Duties include dressing, skin, nail and hair care; oral hygiene; bathing; toileting; simple exercise; medication monitoring and administration under general supervision of a RN; housekeeping duties in resident rooms, common areas, and restrooms; launders clothing for residents as needed; organizes, coordinates and participates in planned activities including meals; performs dietary duties including preparation of meals and snacks, dining room set-up and clean up; documents resident activity daily; assists residents and family members in organizing transportation and other needs as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma, or equivalent. CBRF Caregiver Course (training within 90 days of employment). Experience in healthcare setting or certification as a nurses aid helpful.Knowledge of cleaning and safe food preparation required.Must be energetic and enjoy working with the elderly. Effective communication and interpersonal skills and behaviors.

DUTIES: The Clinical Assistant III will be customer focused, with medical office experience capable of handling a variety of office functions including: scheduling; answering the phone; filing; copying; billing; ordering; verifying charges; and mail sorting and distribution. Also performs specimen collection activities including venipuncture; capillary punctures; TB skin test; throat culture and urine specimen collection. Performs additional duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate, or equivalent. One year previous experience in healthcare field with at least 3 months previous phlebotomy experience. Basic medical terminology understanding. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required. PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required within 18 months of employment.

Childbirth Educator - Women's Services

DUTIES: The Childbirth Educator ensures the provision of quality education to expectant women and their families in Childbirth Education Classes focusing on preparation for childbirth and parenting. Empowers women and their families to make informed choices regarding the labor and birth with knowledge from the CBE classes. Coordinates the scheduling and ongoing education of all childbirth educators at Watertown Memorial Hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma. Must be certified as a childbirth educator within 6 months of hire. Observation of a Childbirth Series. Demonstrates an ability to speak in front of groups; clear verbal and written communication skills. CPR Certified, within 6 months of hire.
